Lighter evenings, freshly cut grass and the promise of summer; it sounds like the cricket season is just around the corner. For the women’s domestic game, it will be the biggest summer yet with more games, more investment and hopefully the highest quality of cricket on display.
This season there will be 14 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Games for each team, split into three time periods across the summer. There will also be 7 Charlotte Edwards Cup games - all the teams will play each other once, making it fairer. Teams will play 8 more games than they did last summer and will play 21 group games in total.
With most games not interfering with the international schedule, the 10 domestically contracted players may be joined by centrally contracted players, meaning that, for the first time, full playing squads may all be professional cricketers.
Here is a preview of all the teams, a look at how they performed last season, players to look out for and what each team will want to achieve this season.
