"I thought we executed really well" - Sarah Glenn on England success in 2nd T20 vs New Zealand

Sarah Glenn spoke to the media following England’s 15-run win in the second T20 over New Zealand. Batting first, England set 150 with Heather Knight leading with the bat scoring back-to-back half centuries. On return from the WPL, Sophie Devine removed both England openers but Sarah Glenn’s cameo at the end of the innings guided England to a defendable total.

New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr fell short of a half century, also on return from the WPL, but it was only a consolation prize as Charlie Dean and Lauren Bell bowled their way to victory with two wickets apiece.

Sarah Glenn remained economical with the ball and Linsey Smith impressed, earning an England cap for the first time since 2019.

“I thought we had enough on the board, especially with our bowlers,” Glenn said. “I think it kind of ebbed and flowed a little bit and I think we came in, obviously Heather, leading from the front again.”

“It was really good from her and then Deano [Charlie Dean] contributing at the end as well,” she added.

England’s experience

“I think we've got really good at that kind of squeezing and the pressure,” Glenn explained. “Amelia [Kerr] had a really good innings and she's a class batter and we didn't want her to get away too much. I think we communicated that really well between the bowlers and I thought we executed really well.”

“I think it's kind of how we expected in terms of it will ebb and flow. T20 cricket is like that and they are a really good side.”

“I think for us it's just: keep focusing on ourselves and what we do best and take each game as it is a five game series.”
