Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy Round 11: Preview

From the shortest domestic format to the longest. The Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy is back in action after a month long pause for the Hundred. The heat has arrived for the end of the season and finals day is approaching quickly. For once this summer, rain should not effect the matches this week and all eight teams should get full matches in without DLS in sight!

Central Sparks v The Blaze

Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham

Tuesday 5th September 2023 10.30am

The Blaze sit comfortably in the top spot, seven points ahead of the Sparks who are in second place. For the rest of the season, both sides have recruited international stars, The Blaze signing former South African batter, Lizelle Lee and the Sparks, New Zealand’s Maddy Green.

Nadine de Klerk (The Blaze) and Erin Burns (Central Sparks) will be missed by their respective sides given – particularly with the ball – how much they contributed.

Northern Diamonds v Southern Vipers

Roseworth Terrace, Gosforth

Tuesday 5th September 2023 10.30am

The sides have built up a slight rivalry since meeting in previous crucial RHFT fixtures. As neighbours in the table, a Vipers win would see them move above of the Diamonds. Both teams will be desperate to end in the top three in order to progress - Diamonds to defend their title and the Vipers to reach another final.

South East Stars v Thunder

Woodbridge Road, Guilford

Tuesday 5th September 2023 10.30am

The South East Stars no longer have an overseas player in their ranks while the Thunder have recruited Ireland skipper, Laura Delany. Wins have been sparse for Thunder but the Stars have had a much better season.

Placing in third in the table, the Stars will be looking to keep their place to progress to the latter stages.

Sunrisers v Western Storm

Radlett Cricket Club

Tuesday 5th September 2023 10.30am

With two wins each, this match could be decisive in who secures the wooden spoon. The Sunrisers will be missing Dane van Niekerk who was injured during the Hundred and has returned home.

Western Storm are without some key stars due to England duty whereas, that is not an issue for the Sunrisers.
