Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy Round 12: Preview

Finals day is only getting closer and with points tight in the middle of the table, it’s all to play for. Mathematically, every team could qualify however, for some teams, there’s more on the line than others.

Southern Vipers v Thunder

Arundel Castle, Arundel

Saturday 9th September 10.30am

The thought of losing doesn’t seem to even cross the mind of the Vipers and failing to qualify for finals, even less! Facing their neighbours in the table, only one point separating the sides, the Vipers need to pick up consistent wins over the next few weeks.

Thunder, on the other hand, have done surprisingly well compared to how their season started. With only two wins under their belt, they equally will want to seize the opportunity.

South East Stars v The Blaze

County Ground, Beckenham

Sunday 10th September 10.30am

The Blaze have been almost indestructible and seem to always find a way. They have already qualified for the latter stages but will want to solidify their place at the top of the table. Already with an 11-point lead, they sit comfortably but skipping the eliminator will be a target.

The South East Stars had a very poor loss last week in the first game back. However, sitting in third place, the Stars are closer and closer to the eliminator. If the Stars don’t qualify, they will have thrown away a huge opportunity.

Sunrisers v Central Sparks

County Ground, Chelmsford

Sunday 10th September 10.30am

Sunrisers may be in a new era with Grace Scrivens taking over the captaincy. In her first game, Scrivens led the side to a comfortable victory and this is set to continue.

The Central Sparks are coming of a loss to The Blaze but there were some positive signs in the bowling attack.

Western Storm v Northern Diamonds

County Ground, Taunton

Sunday 10th September 10.30am

Western Storm are in line to win the wooden spoon and facing the Northern Diamonds may aid that. The Diamonds were involved in a thriller against the Vipers last week so perhaps will want a slightly less tight game.

The Storm need to find some wins but they’ve continued to struggle without some of their key players.
