Six teams are in action this Friday in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy all playing at club grounds local to the region. South East Stars take on Central Sparks in Guildford while the Blaze host their first game at Queen’s Park against Northern Diamonds. Thunder will also face the Southern Vipers in Southport.
South East Stars v Central Sparks
Woodbridge Road, Guilford
Friday 7th July 10:30am
South East Stars will be grateful to have most of their key players back from England A duty after having to field a youthful squad last week, containing three debutants. Sparks hit the road having beaten Thunder at home and have been fortunate to not lose unexpected players to international duty. The Central Sparks are looking confident and the Stars have fallen out of their winning ways.
The Blaze v Northern Diamonds
Queen’s Park, Chesterfield
Friday 7th July 10:30am
It’s always an exciting match up with arguably the two best regional teams in the 50 over format facing each other. Unexpectedly, last time the sides met in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy earlier in the year, The Blaze bowled out the Northern Diamonds for 62 with Nadine de Klerk registering career best figures of 7/33.
It should be a closer contest this time around and the Diamonds will be keen to come back from the embarrassing display up in Durham.
Thunder v Southern Vipers
Trafalgar Road, Southport
Friday 7th July 10:30am
Again, the Southern Vipers were depleted of their usual strong squad as they were beaten by the Sunrisers. Thunder also lost to the Central Sparks in Worcester so both teams will be looking to reignite their campaigns. Thunder are still winless in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy while the Vipers will want another chance at silverware after securing the Charlotte Edwards Cup last month.
