Rain stole the show this weekend, but play was possible on Monday between the Western Storm and the Sunrisers.
Central Sparks v Sunrisers
It was clear from the start that a game was not going to be possible with consistent rain and poor drainage at New Road.
South East Stars v Western Storm
36 overs were achieved in Beckenham before the wash out with Western Storm scoring 182/4. Emma Corney just fell short of another half century while skipper, Sophie Luff finished 34*. Alice Davidson-Richards managed to pick up two wickets while the other seven bowlers remained relatively economical.
Southern Vipers v Northern Diamonds
Some play was achieved at Arundel Castle as the Diamonds scored 105/4 from just over 25 overs. Linsey Smith excelled economically while Georgia Adams took 2/23. Diamonds skipper, Hollie Armitage top scored with 48 from 64 but the game was soon abandoned.
Thunder v The Blaze
Sedbergh School’s grounds were saturated by the persistent rain in the Lake District, removing the chance for play on Saturday.
Smale 4-fer sees Storm victory
After a very delayed start in Cheltenham, play was possible – Sunrisers winning the toss and putting Western Storm in to bat. Recued to 22 overs, the Storm headed to 165/3 with Fran Wilson top scoring with 56 and opener Alex Griffiths hitting 46.
Dani Gibson and Sophia Smale both had an early impact with the ball but Grace Scrivens still went on to top score with 39 runs from 45 balls. It was Smale’s day as she took 4/34 helping the Western Storm to secure a 6 run victory.
