Rain ruined one game but there was still opportunity for a century, plenty of half centuries and some impressive bowling. The Blaze extended their lead to sit at the top of the table on 32 points while Western Storm are at the other end, winless.
Washed Out in Moseley
A delayed start resulted in an abandoned match as the grounds of Moseley CC flooded with rain which continued after an early lunch. The teams shared the points.
A Red Rose Victory
Naomi Dattani took 4/16 as Thunder bowled the Northern Diamonds out for 167. Lauren Winfield-Hill contributed 33 runs but the overall show with the bat was poor.
With the threat of rain, Thunder was quick to respond with Dattani delivering the all-round performance, scoring 46 and Deandra Dottin hitting 54*. Thunder secured their first Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy win with 11 overs to spare.
Stars Stand Out
Stars openers, Kira Chathli and Alexa Stonehouse held an impressive 111-run partnership, but it was South African international, Tazmin Brits who took the headlines, scoring 112* from 72 balls. The Stars finished on 290/9 as Jodi Grewcock took 3/51.
Sunrisers responded positively with Grace Scrivens and Cordelia Griffith both reaching half-centuries. Griffith fell short of her century as she scored 92 but it was Dani Gregory who took her wicket and finished with figures of 4/26.
The Blaze Alights on the Isle of Wight
The Blaze continued their invincible run as they beat the Vipers in a first women’s regional game on the Isle of Wight. Georgia Adams hit an unbeaten 94 to help the Vipers to 259/7 as Nadine de Klerk and Kirstie Gordon took three wickets apiece.
However, Marie Kelly and Sarah Bryce hit half-centuries, supported by Georgie Boyce and Michaela Kirk in the top order to get over the line in the 49th over.
