The Hundred 2023: Squads Confirmed for Third Edition

The Hundred Squads for 2023 have been confirmed in what was a shambolic morning of drip-fed information from numerous sources. There are a handful of new names and naturally, players coming in last minute to replace injured teammates. Here is a guide to all the new signings and full squads.


Birmingham Phoenix

Central Sparks trio Davina Perrin, Abbey Freeborn and Charis Pavely have signed for Birmingham Phoenix to complete their 2023 squad. Perrin was involved in the 2022 editon for the Phoenix but did not play. Freeborn played the first two editions at rival, Trent Rockets but has made the move to the West midlands following her regional move to Central Sparks. Pavely, who was a member of England’s U19 World Cup squad, has been included for the first time, impressing since her regional debut earlier in the season.

Indian wicket-keeper Richa Ghosh has been added to London Spirit’s squad as Queenslander, Georgia Redmayne withdraws after suffering an Achillies injury during the Women’s Big Bash League. Recent England debutant, Lauren Filer, is also heading to the capital after a stint with Welsh Fire. Vipers duo, Chloe Hill and Alice Monaghan also sign with Hill making her tournament debut and Monaghan returning to the Spirit for another year.

There are familiar names up in Manchester as Ami Campbell, Mahika Gaur and Laura Jackson all re-sign for the Originals. Sunrisers wicket-keeper, Amara Carr, is the new name having spent the past two seasons at London Spirit.

Off-spinner, Lucy Higham, heads up north once again for another year with the Superchargers. Georgie Boyce has crossed the Pennines from Manchester Originals while it’s a big chance for Grace Ballinger who spent last season with London Spirit. Local talent, Grace Hall and Leah Dobson sign, Dobson replacing Phoebe Franklin who withdrew.

Champions, Oval Incinvibles, are ready to win three on the trot as they re-sign leading wicket-taker, Sophia Smale. Beth Langston and Cordelia Griffith have joined from Northern Superchargers and Manchester Originals, respectively while local, Claudie Cooper and Northumberland’s Lizzie Scott will join the Hundred for the first time.

There’s lots of change at the Trent Rockets as Jo Gardner and Fran Wilson join their third team. Western Storm’s Nat Wraith signs from Welsh Fire while Cassidy McCarthy, who only made her senior regional debut recently, comes in to replace the injured Emma Jones.

Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy leading wicket taker, Georgia Davis, joins after two seasons with Trent Rockets. Sunrisers’ Kate Coppack also signs her first Hundred contract, hoping to make a first appearance.
